Maxi Dresses: 5 Summer Trends

Thisbe by John William Waterhouse

There’s something magical about the maxi dress. It can be sexy and comfortable, edgy and romantic at the same time. That’s probably why we spot so many celebs wearing them, from shopping trips to the red carpet.

Spring 2010 saw the maxi dress skyrocket in popularity, but it has never completely disappeared. The maxi dress is a chameleon that changes with the times. We love long dresses for formal occasions, but there’s something daring and dramatic about wearing one for everyday.

Check out these five maxi dress trends:

Artsy
Classic
Romantic
Tie-Dye
Tribal

Artsy

Beautiful lines and color splashes that walk right off an artist’s canvas.

Classic

Elegance and simplicity that go anywhere. Lauren Conrad and her Lipstick Red Gypsy 05 Organic Maxi Dress defined this trend.

Romantic

Fresh and sweet with a touch of country. Look for eyelet, ruffles and small floral patterns.

Tie-Dye

Hippie chic at its most authentic, straight out of the Summer of Love. Gypsy 05 has the best selection.

Tribal

Seen on this spring’s runway, with influences from Africa and Indonesia.
